Survival games
Przewalski's horses are wild horses. Separately, there are herds of mares with foals with a single stallion leader, and separately herds of bachelor stallions. The horses have different temperaments, and some of them are very aggressive. The most aggressive stallions sharpen their skills in fights, constantly finding out which of them is the leader, periodically attacking and replacing the leader of a herd of mares. Mares also have fights and even attack foals out of jealousy, but the mother mare has to fight back and protect her foal. Sometimes mares show defiance by kicking the stallion! This is how natural selection is maintained: the strongest, bravest and most agile survive.
All shots were taken in the Orenburg Nature Reserve at the Pre-Ural Steppe section of the Przewalski Horse Reintroduction Centre (Russia) over several years in different seasons.
