1.5°C - Dealing With Desertification
1.5°C - Dealing With Desertification
This series is part of a photobook, I created for my Bachelor Thesis »1.5°C«.
In order to document the consequences of the climate emergency, and to create a better understanding of climate justice, I traveled to Mongolia for two months - from the end of February till the beginning of May 2020. A country that is seldomly in the spotlight, about which people in Europe hardly know anything, and which is already suffering from the consequences of unchecked global greenhouse gas emissions, to an extent like few other countries.
Author
My name is Matthias, I am a Munich-based photographer.
In 2015 I started studying photo design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. During my time there, I majorly focused on portrait, product, architecture, and documentary photography. For six months I lived in Stockholm to concentrate on an architecture book project.
After my bachelor’s thesis »1.5°C« – a documentary work about the impact of the anthropogenic climate emergency in Mongolia – I am working as a freelance photographer and light assistant.
My main focus at the moment is on portraits, documentaries, events, and architecture. I am especially interested in projects about sustainability and equality.
