Our magnificent Sun: source of Earth's life

The sun just started its 11-years cycle! Nobody knows why, but every 11 years we can see the growing of magnetic activity watching the sunspots and the active regions in h-alpha. It is the source of our life and its behavior influences our Earth...
It is magnificent and its power is unimaginable!

I used a special H-alpha filter (Daystar Quark Prominence) connected to my standard Canon 200mm f4 lens. In this way I can shoot the chromosphere of the sun with all its beauty and drama.
The picture has been shooted with a CMOS camera. I used a specific software to "stack" 1000 images in order to increase the quality and the resolution of the image. But all details are real!!!
