Architectural drama in the French Riviera
Architectural drama in the French Riviera
This buildings, called "Le point du jour", were built in the 70's for Algeria's returnees. There are located in Saint-laurent-du Var, on the French Riviera, just near the city of Nice. All of them had to disappear quickly but they're still here, like a shantytown between the sea and the mountains. When I moved in Saint-Laurent-du Var, ten years ago, it stunished me such buildings were there, out of time, in the city center. I'm still fascinated by their typical symmetrical and repeated patterns but also by the colours and the unique shapes. The architecture makes this area a door opened on a foreigner country, impossible to describe. A new project should put au end to this human and architectural drama in a few months or years but now, construction cranes working all over the city are not there. Whatever, I shot this buildings to document architectural and social history of the city.
