A CANOE EYE VIEW
A CANOE EYE VIEW
I bought a canoe and a camera a few years ago to explore and photograph the creeks and swamps that comprise the vast St. Johns River Delta of NE Florida. I am constantly astounded by the beauty and the rich diversity of plant and animal life in what is generally thought of as only a dank, dark, murky miasma. This “wasteland” is threatened by climate change, overdevelopment, contamination and general disregard. These creeks and swamps are vital to the health of the NE Florida ecology. I use my photography to promote the conservation of the St Johns River watershed by documenting its vitality and beauty.

I am drawn to water. I like to canoe through the creeks and swamps of NE Florida, photographing everything from the swamp roots to the treetops, especially the birds. Also the beaches.
