Fall of the King
Fall of the King
He was old, with mange and ringworm, and had distanced himself from the pride. Now, abandoned and all alone he singlehanded took on a herd of buffalo and was locked in an epic struggle with one of its females. In the beginning, it appeared that he would prevail, but slowly the strength ebbed from his body and he would lie prone on the ground to recover and attack , again. But each cycle was shorter and more feeble, until, in the end, the buffalo and the herd left the king defeated, his face smeared with blood and grass, but still defiant.
