Learning to Climb
Near the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado, there is a small band of Mountain Goats living peacefully at nearly 14,270 feet above sea level. The road to the top is narrow and uneven but you can drive to the old Summit House parking lot at 14,170 feet. Access to the Summit is only for a few months during the summer, depending on the snow load from winter. The panoramic view is breath-taking, even if you're used to elevation. If you are lucky, the mountain goats may be playing on rocks or grazing in the tundra meadows. You might even see them take a drink from a freshly melted mountain pond. This image was taken at the beginning of June. The mountain goat babies, called kids were playing on a rock. They are about 16 inches tall at about 8 weeks old. These precious kids were all trying to climb over the rock at the same time. It was the cutest thing to watch.

I am a nature and wildlife photographer living in Gunnison, Colorado. I was introduced to photography in my youth. Inspired and guided by Divine, today, I am a professional photographer. I love to capture an image of a mighty eagle swooping a fish from the waters or photograph a majestic elk moving gracefully across a high alpine meadow. I hope that my images will eliminate hunting and inspire more animal and habitat protection in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I wish to protect the wildlife rich environment of Gunnison County, Colorado, which is over 80% public land and make it another National Treasure for wildlife and their habitat, Blue Mesa National Park.
