Faces of escape
Between 2015 and 2017, a large wave of refugees spilled over Europe. This wave is now over, the borders to Europe have been rigorously sealed off and the refugee tragedy is largely outside our perception. Many young people who came to Europe with this wave still live among us today. These people are often talked about in the media and in political discussions, but hardly anyone in the population really has contact with them in everyday life.
Who are these young people really and what moves them? How do they process their experiences of flight and which fears, goals, dreams, problems and hopes move them? The aim of my project “Faces of escape” was to give the young refugees a face and to take them out of anonymity for a short moment. It is about, in the often emotional and fearful debate about immigration, not forgetting that people are being discussed ...
