Take a brush and paint your music
These portraits are the results of three years' project about Jazz musicians taken in a painter studio in Orvieto (Italy).
Every musician has his/her color palette, shadows and light; the challenge has been to take these artists out from their natural environment, the stage, to see their reactions, interactions, and improvisations in this new space. All the behaviors are spontaneous and improvised. Without their instruments, musicians expressed their personality through their bodies and some things found in the painter's studio. Sets were no more than 20, 30 minutes max, sometimes less. It is an unrepeatable meeting of different arts and personalities. Photographer, musicians and painter interact and combine their arts in a kind of trio improvisations, maintaining the spirit of jazz. The project became an exhibit in 2015 during the Umbria Jazz Winter Festival.
Author
I am a professional photographer almost in the fields of Portrait and Fashion. I love to have a direct and deep relationship with my subjects, to find what's behind the surface of their expressions, to upcome their real being. I also did personal exhibitions and art projects to express my personal view about life and the world. I am a lucky man because I do what I love and I love what I do: Photography.
