A story about family life in the large housing estate “Steilshoop” in Hamburg, Germany. Two and a half square kilometres in size, 20.000 inhabitants. Built between 1969 and 1975 as a measure against the housing shortage. At that time considered as an ideal solution and social utopia, meanwhile the social image has moved towards a mainly negative public perception.
Author
Marina Cordes, born in 1993 in Stade, Germany, lives and works as a freelance photographer in Hamburg. She studied Photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. There, she is currently finishing her studies in the Master’s program. In her work, she focuses on stories about society and social opportunities.
Signe Heldt, born in 1989 in Eckernförde, Germany, completed her bachelor's degree in Photography at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in January 2020. Today she works as a picture editor and freelance photographer with focus on portrait and documentary photography.
