Hong Kong Summer on Fire
Hong Kong Summer on Fire
Ever since the Hong Kong Government tried to pass the Extradition Bill, which would enable the PRC Government to lawfully arrest people in Hong Kong who violate the law in China upon the approval of the Hong Kong Chief Executive, the fear and anger of Hong Kong people to the government has been ignited. For six months, anti-government protests occurred every week. Peaceful demonstrators paraded, while radical protesters, who were mainly youngsters, would block the road, smash shops of pro-government enterprises, and throw petrol bombs, to fight against the riot police. On the other hand, the police force has long been trying to put out the protest at all expense, from inhumane arrest operation to excessive use of tear gas. While the city indulged into unsettling turmoil, the government has stayed ignorant to the suspected misbehaviour of the police and the demands of the people, leaving the problems stay unresolved.
