Winter of the decade

Iceland is a place we were always drawn to. At the start, for obvious spots that every photographer dreams about, but after a few trips, you start to see wonder even in regular landscapes. In March 2020 we were lucky enough to see the winter of the decade, combined with a hurricane that kept us in Reykjavik for two days. When the hurricane was getting weaker we ventured to the south part of Iceland.

The only impact of human presence other than few villages are the power lines that bring strange harmony into vast open spaces of black beaches and rivers. Almost a calming presence like poles on the sides of the road that made us sure we are still on the right track. With the wind still howling the struggle to keep roads passable was visible every day of our travels and usually irregular sandy and stony beaches were covered in a smooth layer of snow. Iceland is a place of many colors but at that time it was all about white, black, and blue with the occasional sun breaking through clouds

My photography is a reflection of my journey to uncover the hidden symmetries and profound connections that bind the vastness of space to the intricacies of our natural world.
