What the eyes don’t see
All you can see in these photos are the fields of Tuscany. However, the things you see here are not the sights you can find anywhere in the world outside.
When you look at a beautiful Tuscan scenery, you perceive an impressive whole, from the nearby fields and country paths, through valleys, to the distant hills and rows of cypress trees on the horizon. But the naked eye won’t see the harmonious details of the faraway slopes; it won’t make out their intricate structure. It won’t find them turned by 90 degrees, or upside down. Standing in the midst of the Tuscan fields, you take in a single dominant colour; but in the sea of yellow you miss the occasional flashes of green leaves, the subtle ochre tones of the earth, the hints of blue in the darker shades.
… these things can be found in the photos you see here.
Author
Over the last decades, Marek—a photographer for more than 50 years—has shifted his photographic technique from analogue B&W to digital colour photography. These days, his focus is on creating unique abstract photographs from deserts in Death Valley and Abu Dhabi. Pure and smooth lines, and colourful shapes with perfect harmony are at the core of this series.
These artworks have been awarded in many international contests and are in private collections in Czechia, Switzerland, Spain, the USA, and Abu Dhabi. Solo exhibitions took place in Zurich (CH), Bern (CH), Campione (IT), London (UK), Prague (CZ), Barcelona (ESP), and New York (USA).
