From a young age, Nicoleta Lupu has shown a clear interest in the perpetual internal conflicts that determine the life of the human being. His photographs reflect the search, the losses and the encounters of a path towards the meaning of our existence, a meaning that is capable of filling the existential void that seems to continue to subjugate us.
The protagonists who trace the geography of this path are actors, dancers, painters, models, opera singers, athletes ... captured in a series of photographs to express the ephemeral and eternal nature of their struggle. A fight for the search for a connection, identity or happiness, which is fought in the incessant need not to get lost in the abysses of the mind. Through the photographs we intuit the lie of a vicious circle, of a powerful and hidden drug, that in the form of people, acquisitions, substances or false reflections of who we think we are, steals and intimidates us. Nicoleta Lupu was born in the old region of Upper Valaquia, in the central Carpathians in 1986, she finished her studies in Sociology at the University of Transilvania in the city of Brasov, from that moment she began her interest in artistic photography that culminated with the specialization in portrait photography and fashion, developing her professional activity in London, Milan and Madrid. During this period she begins to play with the lights and people in search of the essence of being, which she manifests through different exhibitions mainly in black and white that in her opinion reflect without any filter the feelings of the people she portrays, the essence, without superfluous additions. All her work has received the praise of criticism and has been widely disseminated in the press.
