Abyss

The basis for this image is the glass and concrete façade of the new Fairmont Hotel in Austin, Texas.

As the last rays of the sun cast the outside of the building in resolute steel blues, the lights inside provide a soft glow of contrasting illumination.
The strong converging lines of the building structure ending many floors down add dramatic depth and tension, the visual opposite of the image's calming dominant colors.

I use the camera as a tool to express ideas and emotions. Sometimes I record "reality", or perceived reality. My aspiration in photography is less about showing the world as it is, but rather to release the poetry of the ordinary and help people see the un-seen. I try to show an abstraction of what I see, free of distractions. My images are “based on a true fantasy”.
My preference is to photograph in nature. While I also do studio work with elaborated lighting setups, natural light still has the most flattering qualities. In addition, being out in nature is my elixir, my source of energy and replenishment.
