A Dance Of Giants

Humpback whales are conscious breathers - they have to remember to breath even when they are sleeping. Whilst exploring the deep blue waters of French Polynesia where these giants migrate to annually, we found these two adult sleepers floating horizontally just below the surface. Swimming calmly and quietly along with them for some time, we were rewarded with multiple displays of graceful dance and movement as they glided, perfectly in sync, towards the surface for breath mere metres away from us.

A resulting capture of an experience and emotion not easily forgotten or ever taken for granted.
