Bighorn Lineup

After seeing this group of bighorn sheep in the distance, my friend and I began to hike across a sage meadow to get a closer view. There was a small dip in the meadow and when we walked down, we were unable to see the bighorns on the plateau ahead. My friend was making all sorts of noises like crunching on the sage bushes, coughing, blowing his nose and rubbing his arms against his winter coat. I was sure his racket would scare away the bighorns and blow the photo opportunity I was hoping to capture. To my surprise, when we ascended the hill, all of the bighorn sheep were lined up looking straight at us. It seems as though my friend's noises, while irritating to me, caught the attention of the bighorn sheep and they stood watching to see who or what was approaching them.

I love to capture an image of a mighty eagle swooping a fish from the waters or photograph a majestic elk moving gracefully across a high alpine meadow. I hope that my images will eliminate hunting and inspire more animal and habitat protection in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I wish to protect the wildlife rich environment of Gunnison County, Colorado, which is over 80% public land and make it another National Treasure for wildlife and their habitat, Blue Mesa National Park.
