Shokhan is the son of Tobai. He is part of a Kazakh family living in the Altai Mountains of Mongolia and continuing a family and cultural tradition of eagle hunting. His father, Tobai, is a prize decorated eagle hunter and taught his son to be the same. Shokhan no teaches his young daughter, Damel, the art and responsibility of hunting with an eagle. Here, he is dressed in a fox fur coat, made by the foxes hunted by the eagles of the family. He is also wearing a traditional Mongolian hat with feathers. While current times are changing their everyday life, they still hold strong many of their traditions that have persisted thousands of years.
