Portrait of a Turkana Tribeswoman

On my first day in the Turkana region, we stopped to visit a little village. This particular tribeswoman sat at the doorway of her grass hut, friendly but initially a bit self-conscious. Eventually she relaxed a bit, ignoring the camera and appearing to be lost in thought, looking into the distance. I wish I spoke her language - she looked like she had many stories to tell.
