The Warrior

The Karo tribe lives along the Omo River and is the smallest tribe in Ethiopia, numbering only about one to two thousand, and fast dwindling. They are known for their intricate body art, often covering their entire bodies with amazing patterns made out of white chalk.

Almost all the young male members of the tribe carry AK-47s - the Karo's weapon of choice - used to protect themselves in the ongoing conflict with their neighbours, Somalia and Sudan, and to protect their livestock.
