Lost in Translation

Shanghai, city of 24 billions inhabitants, one of the biggest metropoles in the world. I flew there to document the different contrasts of this transitioning city and understand how people are living these daily transformations. Accompanied by a sinophone friend, I was able to immerse myself in this unfamiliar environment and really connect with the locals. I discovered a fascinating world in flux where the urban and social contrasts are very strong. I wanted to paint a portrait of the China's economic dynamism symbolic city, between traditionalism and real disparities.
