Amish Farm

This photograph was taken on an Amish farm in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania, a community that lives intentionally without electricity or modern technology. I visited shortly after the peak of the pandemic—a time when the world was just beginning to open up again, and people everywhere were learning how to reconnect.

The image captures clothes gently suspended on a line, swaying over an expanse of green field, with a single sheep grazing quietly below. It is an everyday moment, yet for me, it held something more—a stillness that echoed the isolation we had all endured, and a quiet resilience in the way life carries on.

Though the Amish live apart by choice and faith, the distance they maintain felt newly familiar to the rest of us. We were all, in our own ways, learning to live with space between us. In that sense, this image isn’t just about cultural difference—it’s about a shared experience of distance, reflection, and an eventual return to presence.
