Tra-me (Inter-twining)
Tra-me (Inter-twining)
Decontextualized portraits, African women from the remote tribes of southern Angola, shot from behind: an intentional choice dictated by the desire to represent the harsh condition of women whose dominant patriarchal culture, in their respective tribes, prevails, forcing them to suffer injustice, violence and abuse.
Women who stand out for the great creativity of their hairstyles: among the most complex and beautiful in Africa. Yet, even in this aesthetic expression, they conform to social, cultural and spiritual conditioning that determine and require precise symbolic representations.
Author
My photography is a travelogue, an ethnic testimony of people's customs and traditions, which, in part, are being lost due to the contamination of the Western world. In particular, I love to focus on portraiture, especially the spontaneous one, which arises from casual encounters with people, trying to capture their beauty, their emotions, beyond simple appearance.
