This photographic reportage project aims to unveil the complexity and beauty of Voodoo in Haiti, an ancient and deeply rooted religion in the country's culture, often misunderstood and distorted by the media. Through a powerful and respectful visual narrative, the project seeks to dispel the myths and stereotypes surrounding Voodoo, showcasing its profound spirituality, ancient traditions, and central role in the daily lives of Haitians.
This project will not only provide an accurate and respectful representation of Voodoo but also contribute to promoting greater intercultural understanding and challenging misconceptions.
Author
Francesco Sangalli was born in Desio, Italy, in 1995. Always fascinated by the power of images to tell stories, he began his career in videography, specializing in documentary narratives. His passion has led him to participate in documentary expeditions in over 40 countries around the world, where he honed his ability to capture the complexity of human cultures and the beauty of landscapes. Since 2022, during these expeditions, he has also started exploring photography, discovering a new way to tell stories through still images. His photographic style is characterized by an intimate and respectful approach, which aims to capture the essence of his subjects and promote intercultural understanding. Francesco believes in the power of photography to raise awareness of important social and cultural issues, and his work is driven by a deep desire to give voice to marginalized communities and endangered traditions.
