The Kings of the Cattle
The Kings of the Cattle
This photographic reportage invites the viewer into the world of the Mundari, a pastoral community living along the Nile in South Sudan, the world's youngest country.
The Mundari dedicate their lives to the care of their Ankole Watusi cattle, characterized by their large horns. They live in symbiosis with their cattle and nothing is more important for them than their bovines.
Known for their deep connection to cattle and for a daily life shaped by rhythm, ritual and resilience, the Mundari inhabit an environment where the bond between people, animals and land is fundamental.
Through these images we explore moments of quiet strength, communal identity and the delicate balance required to sustain tradition in a rapidly changing region. The photographs aim to reveal both the dignity of everyday gestures and the beauty of a culture that continues to define itself through its relationship with nature.
