In The Silence

Behind the well-known attractions that everyone focuses on, there lies a quiet corner.
It is extraordinarily quiet, quiet enough for me to hear the laughter of others and even the sound of water dripping from the sink.
It hasn’t enjoyed much fresh air, nor has it basked in the warmth of the sun; the sunlight merely sweeps over this overlooked corner so briefly that I can hardly keep up.
I don’t know how many families are hidden in its old, narrow spaces.
I also don’t know how many of the residents feel the helplessness of the past, or how many are overwhelmed by the powerlessness of the new era.
All I know is that perhaps this corner can conceal them well.
We have all grown accustomed to the prosperity, innovation, and excitement of the new era, as if we have forgotten those who built that prosperity.
It’s like no one cares about us, who are striving to catch up with that prosperity.
