People and Porches

As the world continues to grow more divided, we are seeing fewer community spaces. In this series, I travelled throughout the city of Savannah, GA, to document its porches. A porch is an interesting space between privacy and publicity; it is a sanctuary and a greeting area. Porches are key to creating a strong community, whether in a small neighborhood or just with your next-door neighbor. A porch is a space that allows one to meet and greet others while being in the comfort of one's own space. As more modern architecture begins to develop, the front porch is seen less and less. I wanted to document the importance of a porch and how people utilized their porches.
