Deep blue, briny breeze
Deep blue, briny breeze
In 2010, in Fiumicino, a coastal town near Rome (Italy), the first stone was laid for a project that envisioned the construction of a tourist marina. The work continued for several years before coming to a halt due to the bankruptcy of one of the companies involved. The concession for the area was later acquired at auction by a large corporation, which presented a new plan integrating a cruise-ship terminal.
The area in question lies within a fragile context, rich in environmental, historical, and social value. These images aim to show the landscape into which this large-scale project would be inserted. Are we truly convinced that there are projects worth allowing places with unique characteristics to disappear—places we have no chance of finding elsewhere?
The entire area has been living in a state of suspension for more than ten years
