The Shape of Breathing – Skin in the Wind
The Shape of Breathing – Skin in the Wind
The Shape of Breathing – Skin in the Wind is a series of large-format film portraits in which the nude body is approached as an architecture of breath rather than an object of display. Working outdoors with a 4×5 inch camera, I ask the model to inhabit small, almost reluctant gestures while the wind rearranges hair and skin. The shallow depth of field collapses the surrounding vegetation into a soft, abstract wall, pushing every scar, bone and curve forward like a façade under changing weather. The series belongs to my ongoing project The Shape of Breathing, which explores the body as a structural space that holds memory, fatigue and resilience. What interests me here is the moment when a body stands exposed yet refuses spectacle: the gaze is direct but not inviting, the posture oscillates between defense and surrender. The photographs record that fragile interval where intimacy becomes architecture.
