The Innaarsuit Icebergs
The Innaarsuit Icebergs
In the July of 2025, two gigantic icebergs drifted unusually close to the coast of a remote greenlandic settlement in which I was living in. The icebergs threatened the safety of the village as if they were to collapse or flip over, the waves could potentially reach some of the houses closest to the coast. The municipality of North Greenland issued an official warning. The local fish factory was closed and we were told to be careful around the coast and not to go in big groups into the local shop. This was the second time ever such event occurred in Innaarsuit.
Author
Dennis is a 29 year old photographer from Finland who started off with astrophotography. Having spent most of his life living in big cities of south Finland he felt depressed not being able to see the night sky properly due to light pollution, so he moved to the small communities in the arctic where dark skies are still a thing.
He moves frequently as each new location comes with its own adventures and new possibilities for photography.
Dennis wishes to take his adventures to the remote corners of Siberia, Alaska and northern Canada in the future and to learn more about these regions.
