Through the cracks within us light penetrates
Through the cracks within us light penetrates
From darkness, light emerges.
Since 2022, Ukraine has faced devastating war. Amid the ruins — shattered walls, collapsed roofs, remnants of life — a quiet, persistent presence remains: memory.
This photographic work bears witness to destruction, not for spectacle, but to affirm that these spaces were once alive.
Each building tells a story — of families, of ordinary days interrupted by violence.
By bringing light into these ruins, I do not restore, I remember.
Like starlight arriving long after the source has gone dark, light enters through the cracks — carrying hope.
These damaged structures, like the Ukrainian people, remain standing.
Wounded, but not fallen.
They embody resilience.
This is not about glorifying ruins, but about showing that life returns — always.
That even in the heart of darkness, light survives.
That destruction cannot erase memory, nor silence the will to live.
Life stronger than destruction.
Hope stronger than despair.
Light stronger than darkness.
