OBSCURA

OBSCURA, the exploration of a new series of pictures speaking to the hidden and secretive aspects of a life lived behind a mask or disguise due to the fear of exposure. The undisclosed or inaccessible aspects of a life make for a mystery that embodies tension and a desire to look closer to decode the appearance of the esoteric or hidden.
Perhaps we view photographic images as truth so when elements are hidden or not revealed there may enter a deeper curiosity to understand or to search for the hidden truth within a picture. I like this withholding of something in a picture rather than revealing all.
We all hold secrets whether consciously or not. The depiction of a secret is fascinating and somehow always present in my practice.
