Sfumato
Sfumato
Sfumato is an intimate exploration of emotions during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Through a window, always from the same point of view, fleeting moments of life are captured at different times of the day, offering a fragmented vision of this shared but confined existence.
These "glimpses" into the intimacy of others become an allegory of the isolation we all lived through, a time when physical distance was compounded by emotional distance, and the impossibility of seeing each other locked us in parallel worlds.
The photographs, tinged with vibrant and deep reds, evoke the beating of the human heart, while recalling the pictorial technique of sfumato, which envelops the subjects in a misty atmosphere, blurring their edges and creating a tension between appearance and disappearance.
Like a cracked painting from the Italian Renaissance, this period of lockdown has marked human history. It will pass through time, leaving in us the impression of a distant, almost unreal memory—a chimera.
