Wonderful creatures
Wonderful creatures
In my practice I work with what society no longer wants: objects discarded on sidewalks, fragments of domestic life. I collect and transform these remnants into visual fables that question our relationship to fantasy, value, and excess through photography and ready-made installations.
This is a long-term project that confronts the environmental, aesthetic, and ideological consequences of Western overproduction and consumption. It reflects the belief that what is thrown away still holds resonance, that waste is a memory, and detritus can be reimagined into cultural critique. Over the past 4 years, this evolving archive of over 3,000 objects has grown into a living collection of disowned meaning.
Photography has a dual purpose: it documents the object-world I construct while simultaneously transposing it into dreamlike space. The camera becomes portal, distilling myth, fairy tale, and subconscious projections into creatures assembled from mass-produced leftovers and mythic reverberation
Author
Miloje Savić (b. 1977, Belgrade, Serbia) is a lens-based artist working across photography, collage, and mixed-media installation. With a background in life sciences and a Master’s degree in Arts, Photography and Design from ELISAVA’s SHIFTA School for Digital Creators (Barcelona, 2021–2022), Savić brings a multidisciplinary lens to his practice.
Rooted in both documentary and fine art traditions, his work engages deeply with pressing social and political issues – from environmental degradation and waste management to the appropriation and recontextualization of personal and collective memory. His distinctive visual language blends portraiture and still life with textured collage and conceptual installation to construct thought-provoking narratives around identity, transformation, and sustainability.
