The Consequences of Love

The Consequences of Love is a photographic triptych inspired by the film of the same name by Paolo Sorrentino and by the symbolic power of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.
The project metaphorically and autobiographically narrates the stages of a real love story through three images – Paradise, Purgatory, and Hell – which represent an inner journey, from ascent to downfall.
The protagonist, seen from behind in the suspended identity of the character “Big-Boy,” holds a crown of rubies – a symbol of the love experienced, the gift given and received, the weight and value of the feeling itself.
Each image marks a passage of the soul and the body in the journey through love: first shared, then suspended, finally lost. As in the film, the series echoes the warning: “Plans for the future: never underestimate the consequences of love.”

Author
Filippo Belletti is an Italian engineer and photographer, born in Modena in 1971. Fascinated by the descriptive photography of Gabriele Basilico and the formal rigor of the Emilian School, he turned his focus to architectural photography in 2010, attending Spazio Forma in Milan. In 2011, he began collaborating with professional studios and institutions, followed by his first personal projects in 2014.
Conceptual photography lies at the heart of his work: he assembles and juxtaposes architectural elements and luminous objects to tell a story. “Photography is a way of telling stories without words, a tool to explore the world and our imagination.” (Paolo Ventura).
