Return to Stardust
“Return to Stardust” captures the precise moment when the sea transcends its physical form and becomes a cosmic event.
The wave erupts into golden light, scattering fragments that resemble drifting stardust — a fleeting sculpture shaped by gravity, time, and breath.
In this work, I explore the sea not as a landscape, but as a primordial force that mirrors the creation and dissolution of the universe.
It is the instant when matter turns into memory, when the ocean’s roar becomes silence, and when the boundary between the earthly and the celestial dissolves into pure light.
Author
Shingo “Shinchan” Ohta is a Japan-based photographer known for transforming the sea into abstract visual phenomena.
Working on the rugged coastlines of the Sea of Japan, he captures micro-seconds of water’s evolving architecture—moments invisible to the naked eye.
Shinchan’s ongoing series Ephemeral Creations of the Sea examines the boundary between reality and abstraction, revealing the ocean as a creator of instantaneous sculptural forms.
Shinchan continues to explore the elemental forces of nature through high-intensity seascapes, seeking to expand the definition of contemporary abstract photography.
