“42” is a series of 42 abstract photographs exploring the relationship between time, memory, and imagery through the number 42. Inspired by The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where 42 is the “ultimate answer,” the project embraces the number’s ambiguity. Using long exposure, I captured 42-second segments from iconic sci-fi and fantasy films and series from the 1980s and 1990s—works that shaped my youth.

This technique compresses each scene into a single abstract image, dissolving narrative and light into a blur of emotion and form. For those who recognize the source material, the work evokes nostalgia and personal memory. For others, the abstraction opens space for interpretation.

“42” invites viewers to reflect on time’s passage and meaning—how personal experience shapes perception, and how even a seemingly arbitrary number can hold infinite possibilities.
