In the Grain of Time
In the Grain of Time
This body of work explores the symbolic aesthetic of tree rings, using photography and digital manipulation to meditate on the layered processes of time and transformation. These images are visual essays - composites formed from photographs of tree cross-sections, fragmented and reassembled into abstract forms that evoke both the natural and the imagined.
At the core is the tree ring as a living archive: a quiet, concentric record of absence and abundance, trauma and survival. This internal chronology mirrors human experience. Growth emerges not in spite of rupture, but because of it.
Short poetic fragments are embedded into the images, creating an emotional dialogue with the viewer. The palette of blues and ochres evokes earth, water, and weathering. Though trees are the source, the subject is endurance through change - how time marks us, and how we rebuild, again and again.
