Through a country of contrasts

An improvised journey that broadened my vision of the human. Cuba, and Havana in particular, suffered greatly from the Covid, which brought the population to its knees economically and also reflected on social and relational behaviour. All this I was able to learn through the people I met.
These photos are my way of making their cracked but proud voices heard, taken in a context of contrasts where it seems that hope is slowly fading sorrounded by vivid colors and stunning views. The lack of all kinds of raw materials, and the difficulty of being able to adequately support oneself it pours out of the nostalgic and worried looks in the streets. A painkiller, a candy, a pencil, these are the requests that came from the people I spoke to.
‘Cuba vive y respira’ says a slogan on a billboard in the centre of the capital. But for how much longer?
