Chemist Gianluca Torta is conducting research to develop a process for recovering Rare Earth Elements from electric vehicle motors. These motors contain NdFeB magnets, fundamental for many applications, crucial to support the ecological and digital transition, but currently subject to inefficient recycling processes. Europe heavily depends on imports of Rare Earth Elements, especially from China, which holds a monopoly on them. It is essential to invest in research and development of recycling technologies .
