The Rio Tinto river, located in the province of Huelva in Spain, is one of the most polluted watercourses in the world, primarily due to mining activities that have taken place in the region for thousands of years. These activities, involving heavy metals such as copper, gold, and silver, produce enormous amounts of toxic and acidic waste, making the river inhospitable to almost all forms of life. In this photographic project, I aim to represent the pollution of the Rio Tinto river in an abstract way, starting from the Minas de Rio Tinto basin, where it all begins, and moving along the riverbanks. I will mix close-up photos with aerial photographs to offer a comprehensive view of the shapes and colors that the pollution "gives" to this river. The phenomenon of the "red river" attracts thousands of tourists every year, many of whom are unaware that this spectacle is as fascinating as it is terrible.

I am an Italian photographer born in 1996. My photography was born between the cliffs of the Tuscan coast and the great cities of Europe. Over time, however, the need to move away from the frenetic pace and crowding that characterize our present has pushed me towards wild and isolated places, where nature still retains its original silence.
My artistic research takes shape in the Apuan Alps, where I learned to observe nature as a space of energy, stillness, and truth.
I'm often inspired by a phrase that sums up the meaning of my work: “Sometimes someone notices what's happening around us and points it out to the person next to us; thus arises the awareness of the beauty that surrounds us, of its fragility and majesty, and of how ephemeral our existence is, increasingly distant and alienated from the places to which our soul belongs.”
