Indian River Lagoon Connected
Indian River Lagoon Connected
The Indian River Lagoon is a long stretch of intercoastal waterway along Florida's east coast. In recent years, conservation efforts have been made to restore the quality of the lagoon which has degraded due to pollution. Agricultural and residential runoff, as well as sewage, have contributed to excessive algal blooms and the build up of muck across the lagoon's bottom. The lagoon is not only a vital ecosystem to some of Florida's most iconic animals, but is also significant to this area's economy and recreation for residents. This series aims to illustrate the importance this environment plays in the lives of the plants, animals, and people that call it home.
