PLANTERA
PLANTERA
Yet again, the noise from my anti-social neighbour forced me out of my home. I grabbed my camera and went outside to be greeted by the Sun and…PLANTERA.
As I walked, I began noticing plant growth forcing their way through brick, tarmacadam and concrete, painfully hoping to be noticed.
…Humanities incessant desire to smother Mother Earth with brick, tarmacadam, concrete, or other Man-Made material will NEVER destroy us.
We have inhabited Mother Earth for 500 million years; Humans a mere 300,000.
Guided by Light and our Nature, we continue to rise through your suffocating Man-Made substances, Mother Earth on our side…
Author
Gill G Sinclair is a photographer born and based in Reading, UK.
The first 11 years of her life were spent living in a room with her family. Her Mother’s death six days before her eighth birthday, propelled her into a life of responsibility for an epileptic brother and, later, a father with Parkinson’s. As a result she spent months in a psychiatric hospital, followed by 5 years in a rehabilitation facility.
Whilst at university she volunteered as a photographer for Shelter, a UK housing charity, in their Pop-Up, at London Victoria Station and was commissioned as photographer, for their GROW Campaign, in October 2022.
A solo exhibition entitled ‘Oblivious’ at the HolyBrook Gallery, Reading, UK, in 2022 was followed by works exhibited at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, UK in their International Photography Exhibition in the Portrait, Environment, Identity, and Nature categories.
