Bahnorama

"Bahnorama" is a word creation. It blends two German words into each other:
1. "Bahn", the German word for "train"
and
2. "Panorama", the German word for (surprise!) "panorama".

April 18th, 2018 on a train trip from Hamburg to Cologne I coincidentally made a video in "Panorama-Mode" on my iPhone 10. The train was driving at full speed, so the simple landscape video I intended to make turned into something completely different and fascinating! The algorithm of the iPhone was not capable of producing a "correct" panoramic image of the scenery outside. Instead it started producing all kinds of glitches, that from an aesthetic point of view immediately appealed to me...
From that day until 2022 I took more than 2000 of these photos on trains all over Europe. Except for basic color correction, no image was further enhanced or retouched in any way. I put my iPhone against the window of a moving train. The rest just "happened"...
