Zero Gravity
Zero Gravity
This is a series of photographs in which person called "levtiator" floats, unaffected by gravity, as if it were a part of their daily lives. The levitations are not at all composited, but rather captured the moment when they appear to be floating while jumping. All photographs are self-portraits, and I did everything myself, from choosing the location to shooting and post-production.
When capturing levitation photography, I try to bring out a wide range of emotions, not just mysterious or melancholic, but also cheerful and relaxing, so that the viewer can feel at ease. If the subject is floating, even in a familiar landscape, the place will appear like another world. I have a clear image of the kind of other world I want to show, and I create works that allow me to express that world.
Author
I am a self-portrait, non-photoshopped levitation photographer. I was influenced by a contemporary artist named Natsumi Hayashi and her “Today’s Levitation” series back in 2011. Under a concept named “Zero Gravity”, I create the world of zero gravity and the life of the “levitator,” who have been freed from the force of the gravity, through self-portrait photography.
I have been awarded by numerous photography competitions held in and out of Japan, and were featured in various media such as national televisions, radio, YouTube, magazines, and online articles.
