The Tulips Are Dancing

In my photographic composites, as well as combining several of my photographs, I merge ideas from a range of sources, visual and otherwise, to extend meaning boundaries, to tell a new story. This image references, among other things, the familiar idea of dancing tulips and Henri Matisse’s La Dance. This composite is based on seven of my photographs, five of which are of single tulips that I have cut out and digitally painted, in one case with a leaf added, and rearranged to create the composition of dancing tulips. The background is composed of several duplicates of a macro photograph of a petal, modified with adjustment layers and digital brushes. Software used: Photoshop.

I photograph mainly outdoors, both in Italy where I live and elsewhere. I'm currently creating composite images using my photographs and image-processing software.
