Surrealist Body
Surrealist Body
An original vision of the human body that provokes thought and even questions.
This ongoing project is based on my attraction to surrealist painting, in particular the work of René Magritte.
The exploration of various works by this famous painter enabled this project to be developed, also enriched according to the creations with nods to the inventiveness of Salvador Dali.
The original idea was to transform human bodies into torsos sculpted in various materials, such as marble or stone. Depending on the creations, the representation of the bodies in different aspects offers greater freedom to express the message.
The cloud motif, so dear to René Magritte, is a key component. Depending on the creations, the clouds become an enhancement to the bodies, a support for an element or a vector of dynamics.
In the end, photography dialogues with painting and sculpture.
Author
Self-taught, photography has been a passion since the age of 15, when I acquired my first camera, a Zenith E.
In the early days, learning from a book on "creative photography" shaped my eye.
Whatever the subject, my eye remains sensitive to original framing, graphic shapes, saturated colours and high contrasts.
I've always photographed traditional subjects such as landscapes, architecture and nudes. But my attraction for art, painting and sculpture, is at the origin of the two projects presented.
For the current project, "Surrealist body", I've taken up a new photographic practice, making photomontages in Photoshop. These are made (without AI) from digitised personal slides.
This new practice opens up an infinite space for creativity. As with surrealist painting, these photomontages satisfy my desire to transform reality into the imaginary without the constraints of reason.
