Venice_Flying Fish
Venice_Flying Fish
This picture consists of 2 photos, taken using the ICM technique, of the Grand Canal with its gondolas.
The bow fitting is striking and reminded me of flying fish.
Originally only as a counterweight to the gondolier, today also as an ornament and symbol of the city of Venice, the bow of the light vehicle carries a metal fitting (metal tail) weighing around 22 kg at the upper end, the ferro di prua, which ends at the top in a kind of horn in the shape of the fisherman's cap worn by the doges as headgear in their national costume. Six spikes protrude from underneath. According to a common interpretation today, these in turn symbolise the six sestieri (districts) of Venice: San Marco, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Cannaregio, Castello and Santa Croce. The spike pointing backwards is said to represent the Giudecca.

"It is an illusion that photos are taken with a camera... they are taken with the eye, the heart and the head."

Frank Schasse is an architect and has been passionate about photography since his student days.
He uses photography as a means of expressing his creativity. Seeing plays a crucial role for him. The transformation of what he sees into a new image, into which moods, feelings and imagination flow. A truly fascinating process.
In addition to traditional colour and black-and-white photography, he has long been fascinated by the potential for abstraction in photography. Making the invisible visible holds great appeal for him.
