Rural China faces a severe aging crisis. The exodus of young people to cities has left villages with a dwindling population of elderly residents. These individuals often lack adequate support systems and struggle with daily living.
Gao Ban Ling Jiao, a village in Zhuji in Zhejiang province, China, exemplifies this trend. Despite strong community ties among its elderly residents, many face economic hardship and social isolation.
The local government aims to revitalize the village through tourism initiatives. However, the success of these efforts hinges on ensuring that the benefits reach all residents, including those unable to participate directly due to age or physical limitations.
