A QUEEN WITH COURAGE: Standing Up for Drag Story Time

In the face of numerous bomb threats and vile verbal attacks by hateful evangelist protestors, drag queen Tara Hoot holds drag story hours - week after week.She entertains by reading family-friendly books about love, acceptance and entertaining families with songs and an abundance of bubbles.Outside, families trying to enter drag story time events, are confronted by Proud Boys and Evangelical priests blaring hateful and shameful lies about sexuality, homosexuality, drag queens and grooming children.Their threats are fearful.Their threats have sparked violence.All around the DC area, most of these events are protected by the Rainbow Defense Coalition, a group of local volunteers who create a barrier of love with rainbow umbrellas, and play kid-friendly music, so that the protestors are not heard or seen by children.The threats continue to escalate but the support for drag story hours grows, too.Thank you to all drag queens doing story hours and encouraging children to read.
